WSW and Wupperverband acquire Water Laboratory
HKCF mandated to conduct company valuation
Wuppertal – Effective July 1, the Wupperverband and the Energy & Water division of Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) have jointly acquired equal shares in the Bergisches Water and Environmental Laboratory (bwl). Previously, the laboratory was affiliated with Bergische Trinkwasser-Verbund GmbH (BTV).
The aim of the acquisition is to enhance the integration and efficiency of analytical services for drinking water and reservoirs, as well as laboratory services related to water, wastewater, and sewage sludge. The full service portfolio of the newly established Bergische Wasser- und Umweltlabor GmbH will remain unchanged and will continue to be available to private customers.
The former bwl originated from the central laboratory of Wuppertaler Stadtwerke AG and has operated as the business unit of Bergische Trinkwasser-Verbund GmbH since 1994. BTV GmbH itself was founded in 1973 as a joint venture by municipal utilities in the Bergisches Land region, without a majority shareholder. The laboratory currently employs a total of 50 staff members.
HKCF Corporate Finance was engaged to conduct the valuation of the company as part of the transaction.
